Grown Man, but Baby Boy :-)

I just can hardly get used to you, my baby, being a truly grown man. You’ve made this mama smile from day one – even when you got old enough to get on my last nerve … you made this heart sing praises and thanksgiving to The Almighty God.

I am loving watching you discover and walk into all that God has created you to be … all that He has created you to do. Caring for people and bringing upon this earth joy that is mind blowing. Serving people as you lead them into their own life purpose. The way you give yourself to others is just mind blowing still.

This mama is praying God’s blessings over Jeremy as he pursues amazing goals in life. Praying God’s blessings over him as he shows many of his friends the value of standing firm instead of running, when you give all of those heavy things to God … He’ll bear them for you. Praising God for his tremendous blessings over Jeremy – meeting his every need, as he willingly meets the needs of friends in many ways! He’s not a quitter and he always has a heart for folk who need help that he can give.

My Jer Bear reflects true strength and service to anyone around him, which helps them to do some of the same things. He knows there is no trouble free road, but He knows that The One who can … will walk him right on through all of it. He knows that if he just does what The Father says … all will be well.

As people who profess belief in Christ – our hearts must at all time seek to love people and help people even if it costs us time, money, peace, quiet … even if it just Gets On Our Nerves! It’s not easy to commit to help people who don’t love you and who will enjoy using you for their own good and not for your own. But we have to have the wisdom to believe that no matter what we give of ourselves, God will keep us!

The skill that God has poured into Jeremy is one that is a help for others. See this … when a person is doing a television program, motion picture, a podcast, music production, or any other project that needs truly skilled and exceptional sound assembly .. they need a true audio engineer, one that knows what he is doing. And that’s my Jeremy. He does his work to help others – not to be glorified – but to help people be even more amazing than they ever thought possible! Ain’t that something! (you can check him out here https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-news/softee-crush-song-you-need-to-know-1064087/)

Jeremy’s love for others exceeds most young men his age. When difficulties come his way – he takes a deep breath and just dives on in … knowing that His King has him and won’t let him go! He has the wisdom and courage to trust God with his heart; with his needs; and with his entire life … because he has no doubt that he has The Lord’s heart; that The King will provide his needs; and that The One who gives life has his life in control!

I am thanking God every single day for the amazing blessing He gave me in you! You are true joy to my heart!

Happy Birthday Jeremy!! My Jer Bear! My baby boy!

Only in Truth and Love

We can be tempted to live in our Christian lives on the edge of the truth. Well, I should say that it seems that today, the Body of Christ is in some ways living on the edge of the truth because of the struggle of including and attracting more people. Now don’t get me wrong – we demand belief in God for sure! But, we do not always demand a trust in Christ.

Because of the difficulties of the world right now, we can be tempted to live in such a way that we are protecting ourselves from some hurt, or treasuring our own station over that of another. But, that is not love. You see, we are told to give the cloak. We are told to walk the 2nd mile. We are told to prefer others above ourselves. When we neglect the truth and love in our lives, we effectively remove from our lives any guarantee of grace, mercy and peace.

We cannot allow ourselves to be lulled in to a state of complacency — we need to be faithful to the truth of Christ — and the love of God!

When operating outside of the truth, which is that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and is the Savior; or when operating outside of love, which is obedience to God — then we cannot expect grace, mercy and peace to be with us.

Embrace His Truth. Show His Love.

I’m praying that Our Father will help us to keep Christ at the forefront of all things that we do, for the sake of His Kingdom. Praying that He will help us to stand firm as we meet others who do not acknowledge Christ as coming in the flesh. Praying that He will help us to fight for the truth and for His glory. Please Father, teach me to obey You — which is to love! Bend my heart toward Your will daily – so that my inclination will always be to love! And may grace, mercy and peace by my portion as I honor the truth and commit to love!

Taking Defensive Action

Chatter is a term used often in shows about espionage. That term is used to describe the information received from eavesdrop on communications from suspected terrorists. They use the information from the ‘chatter’ to plan defensive action. Well, we are privy to lots of chatter too and we don’t have to eavesdrop to get it. The world; the enemy; our haters (naysayers); and even our own minds can be the means to our sabotage.

Chatter in the world carries false messages for us. False messages like:
– We are not worthy because of our ethnicity – FALSE
– We are not worthy because of our past failures – FALSE
– we are not worthy because of our lack of education – FALSE
– we are not worthy because we’re not married – FALSE
– we are not worthy because our womb does not produce children – FALSE
– we are not worthy because our personality makes people uncomfortable – FALSE
– we are not worthy because we’ve been divorced – FALSE
– we are not worthy because we’ve had an abortion – FALSE

When the world says that all of these messages determine whether we are worthy .. they all are RUBBISH!! Trash!!! Waste!! Debris!! Lies!! Don’t let these statements guide your mind and heart in understanding who you are in Him.

I am so glad today that I know that the chatter I hear in the world is not my truth! Neither is it your truth!

As a believer in Christ – we need to learn to take this chatter and take defensive action against these terrorists that are threatening our abundant life in Christ.

The Word of God tells us that we should tear down twisted philosophies and take wayward thoughts and emotions captive and bring them in line with what His truth is. That means we have to believe Him and that we have to believe that His word is our truth – our only truth. We have to remember and speak to ourselves the truth.

As a Christ follower I am worthy (worth it) because He has taken up residence in me and has called me; and when he called me He put me in right relationship with Him; and when He put me in right relationship with Him, He committed to complete all that He started in me for my good and for His glory. I am far from perfect, but my imperfections do not disqualify me from living the abundant life that He has laid out for me.

I will be an asset in this world and not a liability because God has made it so. Chatter — sometimes you have to shut it down! Don’t let your circumstances, your friends, the naysayers, the haters – keep you from living holy; from living free; from living in joy. You are an overcomer – not in your own power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit that resides in you. When I was living in Ghana I loved to hear them say “Let Them Say” – which means their words have no power over me so they can talk all they want.

I encourage you today to believe that He has counted you worthy of His calling and worthy of the sacrifice He made for you at Calvary. I encourage you to have the faith to shut the chatter down in whatever form it may come. Let them say!YOU — JUST BELIEVE!

Who belongs?

When we proclaim God’s truth concerning salvation, it should be with the hope that people will be drawn in – desiring to know this truth. It is not for us to decide who hears – only that we proclaim.

Our attitude toward the lost, those who do not believe in Jesus, must be that we want them to know that God loves them and thus we too must love them. Tattoos, short skirts, sordid pasts, etc. should never keep us from sharing the truth! The Truth that is meant for the world!

Instead of rejoicing at the desire of the lost to hear truth – the book of Acts shows us that the Jews, during those times, despised sharing what they perceived as ‘their truth’ with anyone outside of their own people. Well, in present day – we fit the definition of God’s people if we are believers in Christ. We need to be careful not to have the same heart as that! How much are we doing to ensure that this truth is recognized by us as His truth and not our own. How much are we doing to ensure that we understand that all who believe, belong with us! Now – there is no such thing as our own people, there are only people who belong to Our God. We are his people – and the sheep of His pasture! Children of God! Servants of God!

We better make sure that we see that all who believe … belong!

Father, help us not to be selfish with our truth and our faith. Place in us a desire that all men should know and honor You!

Earnestly Seeking – Sincerely Following

Amaziah became king at 25 years of age and the scripture says that “He did right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a whole heart”.  Amaziah was given victory after victory and then was deceived in his own mind and began to follow after other gods – forsaking the Lord. When Amaziah turned away from the Lord — no more victory — his own people sought after and then took his life.  Read the whole story yourself – 2 Chronicles 25; 2 Kings 13, 14)

This story can help us today.  We learn from Amaziah that when we follow God, but not with our whole heart – we will not only deceive ourselves, but we will be deceived and it will lead to our ruin.

It is easy to point out a person who is wicked when the wickedness plays out as murder, lying, adultery, etc.  But there are people who seem to follow after God who are also wicked.  There are those who do the things that look godly because they know how to look godly, but whose hearts are not at all for God.  I think we call them – Religious People.  I can’t speak for you — but I do not want to be one of these people.

When I go to church; study the Word of God; help people; pray, etc. – I want to be doing it because my heart earnestly seeks Him and thirsts for Him.  If not, I am deceiving myself and others – and in the end our destruction will come swiftly.  Amaziah followed the ways of God but not wholeheartedly and became victim to unwise counsel, and was ultimately found to have turned away from God completely before he was killed.  We might not be killed, but there are things that are worse than (or as bad as) death!  To avoid ruin – it is important that we not just mimic the ways to God but that we seek to follow after His ways with our whole hearts.  This means that we do what we do for the Kingdom because of our sincere devotion to the King of Kings and out of a heart of gratitude for all that He has done and Is doing for us.

Father, Help us to love you with our whole hearts!  Teach us what it means to desire to serve you and to love You sincerely.  May our hearts shy away from seeking our own desires over Your perfect will and may we be found to be true seekers and true worshipers for all of our days.  Amen
