What Are You Expecting?

Working in the world of global missions\international ministry/missionary service – whatever you’d like to call it 🙂 is a grand privilege.  We work in the power of God to present the world with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Our boss is the most powerful boss on the planet; the most virtuous; the most fair; the most loving boss in the entire world.  He is loving; He wants all of us to succeed; He has equipped and called us in specific ways!  He created the world and He has accomplished more than we will ever accomplish AND He will bring to pass more than we can ever hope to do in our own power!  Perfect — He is absolutely perfect!

But there is, as always with humans, a little bit of a catch.  We love to give honor; adoration; credit; distinction to others who have been in the same line of work – as if something that they’ve done is beyond us.  It’s normal – its what we do; its what I do!  We name things after those who went to the mission field 100s of years ago; we compare one another to those who have laid their lives down for the gospel and gone on to glory; we remind ourselves of what our predecessors have done.  Normal ….

The truth of the matter is there was but ONE who counts as the initial missionary – He is our Christ, His name is Jesus.  He left His home and throne to come down to this earth and ensure that a fallen world would be reconciled to The Creator.  He is the ONE who shed His blood – and only His blood is worthy of any praise and adoration.  For those of us who have believed on Him and have since been called to a life on the mission field (Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, or the uttermost parts of the earth) — we all will benefit the same; whether we were called 100s or years ago or just landed in our new place of service.

We just better be careful!  There is nothing that we do that will esteem us above Him.  There is nothing that we will do that will esteem us above one another.  Didn’t you believe on Him to be saved?!  Didn’t you answer the call out of your own love and obedience to God?  Didn’t you say “Yes” because you were willing to work for His glory and not your own?  Aren’t you ready to accept whatever it is He greets you with in glory, even if its not the same as Jim Elliot, Ray Buker, Mark Young, Amanda Berry Smith, George Leile, Grover Cooper or even Lloyd Chinn?!

Think about it…

No Power … Except His Power

‘If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” ‘ Genesis 4:7

I’ve experienced seeing some believers sacrifice their lives to Christ fully, and be blessed in amazing ways. Many have seen the provisions of God in ways that they could never have imagined. I’ve experienced seeing believers sacrifice their lives, in ways that seemed to be full, that have experienced a lack of the respect and fame that they were going for. As believers in Christ, Christ followers, we should surely encourage one another. But for those that are doing what He has told us to do, our hope should be ONLY to bring Him glory and to give Him full and sincere obedience. Truth is that if we allow the sin of the world to get in our hearts and minds – the sins of a desire of fame in ministry OR a desire to be considered more important than others around us … the sin will just stay right there with us, standing at the door of our hearts controlling every move we make.

Sin is standing at the door of the hearts of many people who want to be seen as brilliant, powerful, ???. Yes, this is a strong truth! Too many of us have not taken just one moment to look our enemy in the face and tell him to “get away from me! you are not helping me! you don’t care about the same things God does. You care only about things that people think are important!” (Matthew 16:23) Oh! my brothers and sisters in Christ …. Be Careful!

Looking around us right now and seeing that we, believers in Christ, seem to be letting civil leadership all over the world make us believe that one group is better than another. Just never forget that He, The Almighty God, created us all. Just never forget that He, The Almighty God, send His Son Jesus to die for us all. Just never forget that our loyalty should be leaning toward Him alone, The Almighty God.

Right now these dangerous thoughts are truly sitting right on our shoulders. The world’s powers have jealousies of one another, and their sin has passed down to some of us – building jealousy within in Body of Christ. Just makes my heart so sad. Causes many tears for me.

I encourage you to yield and submit your life and your mind completely to Him. Whether He leads you to a place or task that you love OR if He leads you into something that you don’t even understand … yield and submit to Him. You can only give him all of you if you do it completely and sincerely. Giving Him your life in ways that you believes looks like it … will cause you tremendous pain and sorrow. And then your jealousy for those that God exalts, in His own way and time, will move you to do terrible things as you try to bring them to an end. Don’t let sin have you. Don’t think that anything that you desire should be beyond a desire to bring God glory and praise!

Purity & Love

To be sinless is impossible for us in this human form — but we can attain to godliness, moral purity and agape love. Our allegiance to the King of Kings demands utter devotion to Him and radical love toward people. He tells us to be perfect – not in vanity; not walking in our own righteousness. He tells us as children of God, who understand our complete reliance on Him, that we should endeavor to carry about His image in a worthy manner.

Clean Hands

We have to keep our moral compass before us at all times; not straying to the right or left. We’ve got to keep Calvary before us to remind us of the extend of the love that has been shown toward us. Why? So that we will show others true love — the love of Christ.

Pure Heart

The Savior is telling us once again to imitate Him — to be like Him — to conform to His likeness. We are admonished toward purity and love. What does it look like? Keeping our word; returning good for evil; praying for all people – especially for those who do not know Him; love those who are not like us – ethnicity, political party, denomination and more; extend to others grace and mercy – as it has been extended to us … and So Much More! Our lives should be such a reflection of Him that they can see Him in us everywhere we go!

True Love

I do pray that Our Father will show us the way to godliness. We strive to get there through rules; but the truth that we know is that this is a matter of the heart. If we ask Him sincerely, He will place within us a desire to love people as He has loved us. Sinless perfection is only found in Christ! God can help us to live in perfect love in this world. He can help us to choose to keep our hands cleand and our hearts pure …. just cry out to him and He can and will truly lead and guide you.
