We can be tempted to live in our Christian lives on the edge of the truth. Well, I should say that it seems that today, the Body of Christ is in some ways living on the edge of the truth because of the struggle of including and attracting more people. Now don’t get me wrong – we demand belief in God for sure! But, we do not always demand a trust in Christ.
Because of the difficulties of the world right now, we can be tempted to live in such a way that we are protecting ourselves from some hurt, or treasuring our own station over that of another. But, that is not love. You see, we are told to give the cloak. We are told to walk the 2nd mile. We are told to prefer others above ourselves. When we neglect the truth and love in our lives, we effectively remove from our lives any guarantee of grace, mercy and peace.
We cannot allow ourselves to be lulled in to a state of complacency — we need to be faithful to the truth of Christ — and the love of God!
When operating outside of the truth, which is that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and is the Savior; or when operating outside of love, which is obedience to God — then we cannot expect grace, mercy and peace to be with us.
Embrace His Truth. Show His Love.
I’m praying that Our Father will help us to keep Christ at the forefront of all things that we do, for the sake of His Kingdom. Praying that He will help us to stand firm as we meet others who do not acknowledge Christ as coming in the flesh. Praying that He will help us to fight for the truth and for His glory. Please Father, teach me to obey You — which is to love! Bend my heart toward Your will daily – so that my inclination will always be to love! And may grace, mercy and peace by my portion as I honor the truth and commit to love!
Chatter is a term used often in shows about espionage. That term is used to describe the information received from eavesdrop on communications from suspected terrorists. They use the information from the ‘chatter’ to plan defensive action. Well, we are privy to lots of chatter too and we don’t have to eavesdrop to get it. The world; the enemy; our haters (naysayers); and even our own minds can be the means to our sabotage.
Chatter in the world carries false messages for us. Falsemessages like: – We are not worthy because of our ethnicity – FALSE – We are not worthy because of our past failures – FALSE – we are not worthy because of our lack of education – FALSE – we are not worthy because we’re not married – FALSE – we are not worthy because our womb does not produce children – FALSE – we are not worthy because our personality makes people uncomfortable – FALSE – we are not worthy because we’ve been divorced – FALSE – we are not worthy because we’ve had an abortion – FALSE
When the world says that all of these messages determine whether we are worthy .. they all are RUBBISH!! Trash!!! Waste!! Debris!! Lies!! Don’t let these statements guide your mind and heart in understanding who you are in Him.
I am so glad today that I know that the chatter I hear in the world is not my truth! Neither is it your truth!
As a believer in Christ – we need to learn to take this chatter and take defensive action against these terrorists that are threatening our abundant life in Christ.
The Word of God tells us that we should tear down twisted philosophies and take wayward thoughts and emotions captive and bring them in line with what His truth is. That means we have to believe Him and that we have to believe that His word is our truth – our only truth. We have to remember and speak to ourselves the truth.
As a Christ follower I am worthy (worth it) because He has taken up residence in me and has called me; and when he called me He put me in right relationship with Him; and when He put me in right relationship with Him, He committed to complete all that He started in me for my good and for His glory. I am far from perfect, but my imperfections do not disqualify me from living the abundant life that He has laid out for me.
I will be an asset in this world and not a liability because God has made it so. Chatter — sometimes you have to shut it down! Don’t let your circumstances, your friends, the naysayers, the haters – keep you from living holy; from living free; from living in joy. You are an overcomer – not in your own power, but by the power of the Holy Spirit that resides in you. When I was living in Ghana I loved to hear them say “Let Them Say” – which means their words have no power over me so they can talk all they want.
I encourage you today to believe that He has counted you worthy of His calling and worthy of the sacrifice He made for you at Calvary. I encourage you to have the faith to shut the chatter down in whatever form it may come. Let them say!YOU — JUST BELIEVE!
Amaziah became king at 25 years of age and the scripture says that “He did right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a whole heart”. Amaziah was given victory after victory and then was deceived in his own mind and began to follow after other gods – forsaking the Lord. When Amaziah turned away from the Lord — no more victory — his own people sought after and then took his life. Read the whole story yourself – 2 Chronicles 25; 2 Kings 13, 14)
This story can help us today. We learn from Amaziah that when we follow God, but not with our whole heart – we will not only deceive ourselves, but we will be deceived and it will lead to our ruin.
It is easy to point out a person who is wicked when the wickedness plays out as murder, lying, adultery, etc. But there are people who seem to follow after God who are also wicked. There are those who do the things that look godly because they know how to look godly, but whose hearts are not at all for God. I think we call them – Religious People. I can’t speak for you — but I do not want to be one of these people.
When I go to church; study the Word of God; help people; pray, etc. – I want to be doing it because my heart earnestly seeks Him and thirsts for Him. If not, I am deceiving myself and others – and in the end our destruction will come swiftly. Amaziah followed the ways of God but not wholeheartedly and became victim to unwise counsel, and was ultimately found to have turned away from God completely before he was killed. We might not be killed, but there are things that are worse than (or as bad as) death! To avoid ruin – it is important that we not just mimic the ways to God but that we seek to follow after His ways with our whole hearts. This means that we do what we do for the Kingdom because of our sincere devotion to the King of Kings and out of a heart of gratitude for all that He has done and Is doing for us.
Father, Help us to love you with our whole hearts! Teach us what it means to desire to serve you and to love You sincerely. May our hearts shy away from seeking our own desires over Your perfect will and may we be found to be true seekers and true worshipers for all of our days. Amen
I went to the hospital on September 30th in the the evening. Labor was light, I was 2 weeks overdue and the baby’s head was upright, so they said C-Section. My nurse, however, was from an island in the Caribbean. She asked me to trust her and she rubbed my stomach in a relaxing way and that baby turned over with the head down. At about 7am on October the labor started and at 10:28 am today, October 1st 1990, I gave birth for the first time. A strong baby boy with truly loving eyes and with a heart that loved to be loved.
There was much difficulty going on in my life at that time – but when God opened this door, everything came to a God only focus. I mean TRULY! My desires turned completely to God, so that’s all this baby boy was taught. I’m grateful to God for my boy – grateful for the the blessing that he has been to this mama’s heart and life; grateful to see him face difficulty with a hand that pulled God’s fist forward instead of His own; grateful to see him await the bride God ordained; grateful for his strong desire and gifting to help people find their life purpose to God’s glory.
I share this often – Joseph signs his notes ‘ Live In Love” and for Joe, this is the reality of how he lives – not just a signature. It’s a signature that all children of Christ just ought to follow.
Joseph’s love for God’s children is to help everyone of them to see God’s purpose and plans for their lives. It is the amazing gift God has given to him, and he is skilled at it. His ministry, XPose, leads Christ followers to stages of greater confidence in hearing and obeying God’s call on their lives. He doesn’t see it as a job, He sees it as a way to reflect the love of Christ every where he goes!! Isn’t that great!!! I’m a grateful mama!! When I look at my own wedding ring, I see many facets – sometimes it glistens bright white; at another angle it is a colorful prism; sometimes it looks like clear glass. My point is – no matter how I look at it or how it looks to me – it looks beautiful. Love too – in all of its facets is a beautiful thing. So then, why don’t we just try to take every experience of this day and respond to it in love. As for me I have to ask myself daily: Can I be love in every situation? Honestly – I don’t know! But I can certainly try.
My prayer today is that each person that I have contact with on this day (whether in person or electronically) will know that they are loved! My prayer is for a world where every Christ follower acts in love in EVERY situation. Loving the ones who love us. Loving those who are not so loving but are yet dear to us (you know, those crazy family members you don’t really like!). Loving those who mean us harm; those who commit wrongs against us intentionally; those who purpose to bring to ruin the plans that God has for us. I’m talking about going beyond forgiveness and showing them love.
Happy Birthday Jody Beau!
Thank you for being an amazing image of God’s love every single day! Oh how blessed this mama is! Oh how grateful this mama is! So very grateful that you know God and you love His people. Happy Birthday!!
And YES!! I’ll cook you whatever you ask for!!
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8
There are times when I’ve experienced people who clearly do not know, believe, or serve God. My desire for them to be better messes with my mind! Do I want to walk with them to a right path? Do I want to destroy them? Do I want to separate myself from them? Makes me wonder .. what do others, in the Body of Christ, think of me when I blunder in my walk? Do they walk with me, leading me to the right path? Do they want to end my ministry life? Do they want to cut off all contact with me?
What I know for sure, is that the Almighty God knows me. He knows when I’m weak and when I fall off track. He never walks away from me — not even for one moment. He opens my eyes to see where I stepped onto the wrong path and He roots it out of me! And the beautiful part is that He makes my heart long for Him … long for my life, my words, my thought, my actions – to please and glorify Him.
One of the things I thank God for, as a mom, is His way of correction. I try to do it the way He does it. With my sons, every lesson ever taught was directly from the Word of God. (Yes! They sometimes got a spanking!) If they lied … they were talked to from Colossians 3; Exodus 20, etc.; If disobedient – Ephesians 6:1; John 15, etc.; If angry or annoyed … Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:12-14. They were talked to and then fervently prayed for. The wonderful view later was that they became men who have no desire to live in a way that is apart from Him and they’ve learned that any mistakes will be forgiven and washed away.
God knows me – He knows us all – from the inside out, and can/will cleanse and change us for the sake of His Kingdom.
Praying that for each of His children, for my brothers and sister in Christ all over the globe, that we will go to Him sincerely asking to be corrected – ensuring that we will have everlasting joy! Praying that as I see the lost, the disobedient believer, or even the confused person – that I will have the humility to teach the Word, to pray sincerely for them, to walk with them down the path to The One that knows us all from the inside out.
If at any time you’re not quite sure whether you can be free of wrong behavior, wrong choices, wrong thoughts … trust me, it is right there in the Word of God. Just take a look! It’s in there …
When we take the wings of the morning – or dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea … even then we will find Him there! Our God! The Omnipresent God! And our souls shall hide in Him!
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.--Romans 8:38-39
