Missionaries of Color
I am a Black Woman – an African American Woman – a Woman of Color. I have served full-time as a missionary for the last 23 years. I must admit the history of people like me in the work of Global Missions touches my heart. This history affects me in ways that other history does not!
‘So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you to do. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of time.”’ Matthew 28:19-20
There are not as many African Americans in Global Missions as there should be. But, the number is increasing! I praise God for that!!
‘But the Holy Spirit will come on you and give you power. You will be my witnesses. You will tell people everywhere about me—in Jerusalem, in the rest of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world.” ‘ Acts 1:8
There are some of us that serve right now, I have highlighted a few of them. The individuals who opened this door for us, even when we were not considered capable, are eye opening. They remind us all that God calls all of His children. He calls them not by color or denomination, but by their belief in Christ and their true dependence upon Him.
‘He said to them, “Go everywhere in the world. Tell the Good News to everyone. ‘ Mark 16:15
If the Lord is moving you to walk toward this life, feel free to take action. You can shoot me an email at jchinn@cyreneconnect.com. With the topic: “I Want To Go!”
‘Yes, “everyone who trusts in the Lord will be saved.” But before people can pray to the Lord for help, they must believe in him. And before they can believe in the Lord, they must hear about him. And for anyone to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them. ‘ Romans 10:13-14
I do hope that you enjoyed the readings this month!
