There should be a difference in us if we have truly been called by The Lord and have heard His voice.
It occurs to me that the Christians of today allows for us to live half heartedly for Christ. If pastors have affairs, we say that they are only men. When Christian politicians fall, we say that they are only human. When WE fail in our own personal lives, we say God knows that we are only flesh. But, Paul begs us to act like we’ve been called by a holy and righteous God.
The lying should stop; the deceit should end; hatred should cease; sexual immorality should disappear — that is, of course, if we have truly heard the voice of The Lord calling us to Himself. There is a saying ‘ “Act like you know.” It seems to me that Christians need to do a better job of acting like they know Him! We should be working harder to become one because it is His desire. We should be utilizing our gifts not to receive glory for ourselves, but to build up one another for service to the Kingdom. We should be eager to hear the truth, not clamoring for a feel good gospel that will not move us toward self-gratification . We should find ourselves always studying and learning The Word of God, allowing Him to mold us. People should see us and know Who We Serve! They should hear us and know Who We Serve! There ought to be a difference!
For every one of us that say be are Christ followers – believers in Christ – our life should be a life that shows we are undergoing the change!!
Father, please help us to walk lovingly in the world, but not in a manner that tolerates and even condones sin and unfruitful living among believers. Teach us what it means to walk worthy. Help me to fulfill my calling! Lord I have heard you – help me to walk like I know You! Forgive me for allowing complacency to creep in. Redeem the time that I have wasted. Use me. Change me!
Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called … walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk … being darkened in their understanding … you did not learn Christ in this way, if indeed you have heard Him … put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.
