What Are You Proud Of?

In the Christian life, there is a truth that we don’t like to admit …. We Think We’re Better Than Someone!  I mean not me … but y’all!  LOL!!

Recently a friend of mine was teaching from Revelations and he was so open with us about the fact that we, children of God, have a weakness about thinking that people who are not like us are worse or less than us. 

If you’re making a commitment to walk with people who are trying to build their relationship with Christ or with people who want to know Him, you will encounter people who struggle with a sin or temptation; probably a sin or temptation that you too have struggled with.  Be careful not to think too much of you. Don’t ever forget that it was God’s work in you which allowed you to overcome.

When I first became active in ministry, I remember having aview that we needed to reach every single person.  It was mostly because I hadn’t always walkedfully with The Lord, so I believed that the only way it could happen was if ourdoors were open to others.  I learnedlater that it was the power of God that moved His Holy Spirit to open people’seyes and moved their hearts.  But I alsolearned that if new believers in Christ never saw someone that reflected whatOur Savior is, they’d not move closer to Him. 

I am known by those who have come in close relationship with me to be REAL! I’m not afraid to tell my story and talk about the weaknesses and sins that I have overcome.  I’m not afraid to talk about the things I struggle with right now, that the Lord is bringing me through.  Here’s the deal – I just don’t find myself better than anyone! My Victory is in Jesus, He is my Savior forever. “He sought me and He bought me with His redeeming blood. He loved me before I knew Him and all my love is due Him. He plunged me to victory beneath the cleansing flood.” (I know! I love hymns)

Don’t compare yourself with others. Just look at your own work to see if you have done anything to be proud of.

Galatians 6:4

Father, Create in us hearts that are not haughty and prideful but that are clean and pure. Give us the hearts of flesh so that we will not think ourselves above any man. Humble us when we puff ourselves up. Teach us to walk with one another and to gird up one another in Christian love. Remind us that the most important work that we ever do is submitting ourselves to You; believing and submitting to The Savior, Jesus Christ; and yielding our hearts and minds to The Holy Spirit.  Having You in us is the only thing that we can ever be proud of!
