Grace … receive it, extend it

My mom, my sister and my great niece were with my nephew Jacil when he passed away.  As he breathed his last – my mom went into grace mode.  She started telling the medical personnel that were in that room that they needed to know Jesus.  That if they didn’t know Him they’d better get to know him. That if they did not know him they would be going to hell.  She didn’t invite them to follow her — she exhorted them to follow Jesus.  My mom has a deep understanding of what it means to be an image bearer and an extender of grace. Even in a time of intense loss — what was on her mind was that she was leaning on an Ever Present Help that the medical personnel just might not have had!  She knew that the one thing she had to give them was the truth of the gospel – the doorway to His grace.

Truth is, He extended grace to us – not for our own sake – but for his glory! His unmerited favor was meant to send us on a passionate quest for the lost among every nation, introducing them to the truth of the gospel and leading them to become disciples of Christ – not replicas of us! His grace is amazing indeed – so spread the word! The nations live all around you – tell someone who doesn’t know so that they too might believe and walk in obedient faith and abundant life!

“through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake”

Romans 1:5
