Ezra 4:2 “they approached Zerubbabel and the heads of fathers’ households, and said to them, “Let us build with you, for we, like you, seek your God; and we have been sacrificing to Him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assyria, who brought us up here.”
Let us build with you?! Really!? Those who appear to follow after the Christ will always want to align themselves with the real followers in order to authenticate their hypocrisy.
Sometimes in our desperation to move a project forward we might be tempted to accept help, assistance, partnership from those who do not truly follow Christ. Beware! The time is coming and now is when God seeks true worshipers. The Israelites understood that they could not partner with people who did not worship the Lord exclusively and we must take that same precaution today. The thought of being unequally yoked comes to mind. As we make alliances to further the work of the kingdom, we must seek God’s own wisdom and then follow the counsel He provides as to whether we must move forward are stand our ground. Our full reliance must always be on Him to complete what He has started no matter the circumstances around us. Our plight or our fears must never push us to build alliances with those who would follow other gods of any kind.
Father, Help us to stand firm in our trust that you will bring to fruition the vision that you give to your people. Steel our hearts not to be tempted to align ourselves with people or groups who are not fully devoted to your kingdom and your will. Be with us – guide us – keep us. Move us to do the right thing at the right time. Amen
